If you think that the lyrics of Beyonce’s latest release Lemonade is about, or proves, that Jay Z cheated on her then I have some additional lyrics you probably need to listen to.
If you trust the timelines, then you need to go at least 10 years back to get Jay Z’s side of the story, to get an idea of why maybe he would cheat on her.
“It’s not a diss song, it’s a real song” claims Hov.
On his song Lost One from his 2006 album Kingdom Come Jay Z discusses his frustrations with a 23 year old female.
I don’t think it’s meant to be, be (or maybe he is saying Bey?)
But she loves her work more than she does me
And honestly, at 23 I would probably love my work more than I did she
So we ain’t we. It’s me and her
Cause what she prefers over me, is work
And that’s where we differ
So I have to give her freedom, even if it hurts
So breathe, mami, it’s deserved
You’ve been put on this earth to be
All you can be, like the reserves
And me? My time in the army, it’s served
So I have to allow she, her, time to serve
The time’s now for her
In time she’ll mature
And maybe we can be we again like we were
Finally, my time’s too short to share
And to ask her now, it ain’t fair
So yeah, she lost one
Listen for yourself here, the second verse starts at the 2:16 mark.
I’m not condoning his cheating, simply pointing out an interesting side to his story. If you believe any of these lyrics to be reflecting their real-life situations.
Personally I think they are just really clever. Last time we heard of problems with their relationship was coincidentally around the On the Run Tour.
